Baghdad: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed Iraq’s full support for Lebanon’s unity and autonomy and condemned the Israeli aggression against its territory, stressing the importance of joint efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from his media office said that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received the new Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq, Khalil Abdullah Mohammed.
During the meeting, Al-Sudani noted Iraq’s keenness to elevate the level of bilateral relations and strengthen partnership and cooperation in various fields, which will positively impact the higher interests of the two brotherly peoples on the path to development and prosperity.
Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq’s full support for Lebanon’s unity and autonomy and condemned the Israeli aggression against its territory, stressing the importance of joint efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region through dialogue to address crises and contribute to maintaining security and stability.
For his part, the Lebanese Ambassador conveyed the greetings of the Lebanese President, Prime Minister, and Speaker of Parliament to the Prime Minister. He expressed his country’s appreciation for Iraq’s supportive stance towards the Lebanese people, affirming Lebanon’s commitment to maintaining its distinguished relations with Iraq in a way that serves mutual interests.
