Baghdad: The head of the New Generation bloc, Sarwa Abdul Wahid, confirmed on Saturday that most Kurdish blocs are set to vote for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s candidate, Nizar Amidi. This announcement marks a significant development in the political landscape as Kurdish political factions prepare for an upcoming session.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abdul Wahid revealed that while a majority of Kurdish blocs are backing Nizar Amidi, there are exceptions. Specifically, 10 Members of Parliament have expressed their intention to support their candidate, Muthanna Amin. This split highlights the ongoing political dynamics and differing alliances within the Kurdish political groups.
Further detailing the situation, Abdul Wahid mentioned the absence of the Kurdistan Democratic Party from the session. Their non-participation indicates a distinct political stance, as they choose to refrain from engaging in the vote. Meanwhile, the New Generation bloc has affirmed its commitment to support the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s candidate, Nizar Amidi, aligning themselves with the majority of Kurdish political forces.
