GCC Secretary General: Iraq’s Security is Integral to the Security of the Gulf and the Region

Baghdad: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, affirmed on Tuesday that the GCC states remain committed to supporting Iraq’s prosperity, stressing that Iraq’s security is integral to the security of the Gulf and the wider region.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Budaiwi made these remarks during a joint press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Baghdad. Al-Budaiwi emphasized the importance of his visit to Baghdad, highlighting the commendable steps taken by Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi.

Al-Budaiwi discussed with the Iraqi Foreign Minister the latest regional developments and ongoing de-escalation efforts. He praised the Iraqi government’s initiatives to prevent attacks launched from Iraqi territory against the Gulf states.

Al-Budaiwi reiterated that the GCC states will persist in their support for Iraq’s prosperity, underlining the essential role of Iraq’s security in maintaining stability in the Gulf and the region.
