Baghdad: Iraqi Justice Minister Khalid Shawani met with the Yemeni Ambassador to Iraq, Al-Khader Ahmed Marmash, on Wednesday to discuss procedures for signing a memorandum of understanding on the transfer of prisoners between Iraq and Yemen.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Justice stated in a press release that Justice Minister Khalid Shawani received the Yemeni Ambassador at the ministry headquarters to explore ways to enhance legal cooperation between the two countries. The discussions focused on finalizing procedures for a memorandum of understanding on prisoner transfer, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the judicial field following applicable legal frameworks and international agreements.

The Justice Minister emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to expanding cooperation with friendly nations, particularly in legal areas, to enhance justice, preserve rights, and serve mutual interests. The Yemeni Ambassador expressed appreciation for the ministry’s efforts in completing the memorandum requirements, highlighting Yemen’s desire to strengthen judicial cooperation between Baghdad and Sana’a.
