Baghdad: The investigating judge of the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court explained that some fraudulent extortionists affiliated with several official and unofficial bodies are trying to exploit the circumstances and course of the investigation into the case of the detained defendant Adnan Muhammad Hammoud Al-Jumaili/Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Refining Affairs and his group by contacting businessmen claiming that their names have been mentioned in the ongoing investigations in order to extort them.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the judge urged all citizens and businessmen in particular not to believe these lies and not to succumb to any such extortion and to report these actions to the court on the phone number (07718454304).
He explained that recordings and television interviews were monitored on several satellite channels in which guests provided information about the investigations that was entirely false and had no basis in reality. He emphasized that the court will take the strictest legal measures against the perpetrators of these despicable acts and behaviors that attempt to distort the efforts of the judiciary, the government, and the agencies responsible for combating corruption.
