Basra: A gathering of journalists, intellectuals, and writers in Basra celebrated the signing of the book "Al-Faisaliyah: Eternal in the Memory of Life" by Sadiq Al-Ali, head of the Journalists Syndicate branch, during a cultural session attended by a select group of those interested in cultural and literary affairs.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the session began with a brief reading of the book by writer Hazem Al-Ali, who highlighted its main themes and its documentation of the memory of the Al-Faisaliyah district and its social and cultural history.
For his part, the book's author, Sadiq Al-Ali, spoke about the historical periods that the Al-Faisaliyah district has witnessed, recalling its most prominent intellectuals and athletes who represented national teams, as well as its writers, most notably the renowned short story writer Mohammed Khudair, who was present at the session, along with other prominent poets and figures who left a clear mark on the district's history.
Al-Ali also reviewed a number of names and places that remain firmly etched in the memory of Al-Faisaliyah's residents, including the Mankash Caf©, which has a history spanning more than sixty years and continues to hold its place as one of the district's most prominent landmarks.
The session concluded with questions and comments from the audience, which the book's author answered, providing valuable information and documents that brought back memories of a beautiful past and enriched the cultural gathering.
