Baghdad: Baghdad Governorate has set a new price for generator amperes for the month of July.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the governorate's decision comes in response to economic conditions, citizens' appeals, and directives from the Prime Minister. The Ministry of Oil has also decided to provide fuel free of charge, prompting an amendment to the official pricing for private and government generators.
The revised pricing structure is as follows: for 24-hour operation, the price per ampere will be 10,000 Iraqi dinars. Nighttime operation has been completely canceled, with generators operating on a 'golden line' basis, alternating with the national electricity grid. In privatized (collection) areas, the price per ampere is set at 5,000 Iraqi dinars.
The governorate has called for administrative units to coordinate with security forces and the National Security Service to conduct field visits. These visits are aimed at monitoring pricing compliance and ensuring generator owners adhere to the new rates. Generator owners are also required to display a clear price list and provide citizens with official receipts. Failure to comply will result in legal action.
Additionally, the governorate has urged members of the provincial council to fulfill their oversight responsibilities. Citizens are encouraged to report any violations through designated complaint numbers.
