Baghdad: The Parliamentary Reconstruction and Development Bloc has reinforced its complete support for actions taken by the Supreme Judicial Council and the government in addressing corruption cases. It emphasized the importance of ensuring that investigations cover all instances without bias, while also expressing backing for the Prime Minister's selections concerning the completion of the ministerial cabinet.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the head of the bloc, MP Bahaa al-Araji, stated in a press conference that holding officials accountable for involvement in corruption, whether in the executive or legislative branches, is a crucial step towards strengthening the rule of law. Al-Araji voiced confidence in the Iraqi judiciary and its decisions.
Since the beginning of the current parliamentary session, the bloc has submitted several draft laws aimed at combating corruption and eliminating its sources. Al-Araji commended the government's measures that have helped curb fund smuggling, including the implementation of the "Scoda" system and increased control over financial transfers and tax procedures.
Al-Araji noted that the current phase enjoys widespread political and popular support, creating a conducive environment for unveiling significant corruption cases and advancing institutional reforms.
Politically, al-Araji highlighted the necessity of completing the ministerial cabinet, particularly the Ministries of Defense and Interior, and expressed the bloc's readiness to vote in favor of the Prime Minister's nominees, given the crucial role of the security ministries at this time.
Al-Araji denied any internal disputes within the bloc and cautioned against a media campaign aimed at distorting the political landscape and inciting divisions.
