Ankara: US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will “most likely” strike Iran hard tonight. In response to a question about the possibility of resuming military action against Iran, Trump stated, “We hit them very hard last night (Tuesday night), and we may hit them very hard again tonight.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump further elaborated that the United States plans to initiate a new wave of strikes against Iran on Wednesday night, shortly after declaring the end of the ceasefire between the two nations. Trump’s comments were made on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.

The US president emphasized that these strikes are part of an ongoing response to attacks targeting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump accused Iran of launching drones and a missile at commercial vessels, stating, “They are behaving very badly.”

In his address, Trump reiterated threats to seize Iran’s Kharg Island oil terminal and mentioned the possibility of reimposing a naval blockade on Iran’s ports. He also mentioned that destroying Iran’s power and water plants could be an option if necessary, although he expressed reluctance to take such action.

The United States had already launched heavy strikes against Iran in the early hours of Wednesday morning, following attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
