Baghdad: The security advisor to the Prime Minister, Qasim al-Araji, affirmed that "the security of the Gulf region is a shared regional interest and a collective responsibility."
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Araji stated in a post on the website /X/: "The security of the Gulf region constitutes a shared regional interest and a collective responsibility, based on respect for the sovereignty of states, adherence to the principles of good neighborliness, non-interference in internal affairs, and the adoption of dialogue and cooperation as a means to address common challenges."
He added: "Iraq, based on its strategic location and regional role, continues to support everything that would enhance the stability of the region, secure supply chains, develop safe trade and logistics corridors, and deepen cooperation with neighboring and regional countries, in a way that achieves common interests, consolidates security and stability, and leads to sustainable development that meets the aspirations of the region's peoples for a future of peace and prosperity."
