Saudi Arabia and Pakistan Call for Renewed US-Iran Negotiations

Riyadh: Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan and Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar underscored the importance of supporting mediation efforts and resuming discussions between the United States and Iran to mitigate regional tensions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Saudi Foreign Ministry announced that Faisal bin Farhan engaged in a phone conversation with Ishaq Dar. During their discussion, they addressed "recent developments in light of the escalating tensions in the region." Both ministers stressed the need for mediation and the resumption of US-Iranian talks, highlighting the importance of containing tensions and pursuing peaceful solutions to foster regional and international security and stability.

In a related development, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi arrived in Muscat, Oman, to engage in discussions about the Strait of Hormuz, regional developments, and bilateral relations with Omani officials, as reported by IRNA earlier on Saturday.

Additionally, the United States, on Friday, called upon Iran to publicly commit to not targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz and to ensure that all its waterways remain accessible for commercial shipping, according to reports from US media citing unnamed officials.
