Muscat: Iran and Oman are currently engaged in discussions aimed at issuing a declaration that guarantees full and free navigation in the central passage of the Strait of Hormuz. The talks are taking place in Muscat, with the participation of Qatari officials.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions are focused on reopening the middle lane of the Strait of Hormuz, which is situated in international waters. The move is expected to ensure the freedom of navigation and passage for ships through this vital maritime corridor.
The American news website Axios reported that the meetings are a collaborative effort between Iran, Oman, and Qatar. The diplomatic source cited by Axios emphasized the importance of the middle lane's location in international waters, reinforcing the potential for unhindered maritime activities in the region.
