Baghdad: River rescue teams in Baghdad have begun placing warning signs to alert people to the dangers of swimming in the Tigris River.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Colonel Muhannad al-Tamimi, Director of the River Rescue Department at the Ministry of Interior, stated in a press release that field teams have begun placing warning signs to raise awareness and alert citizens about the dangers of swimming in the Tigris River. The signs are strategically placed along the banks of the Tigris River from the Republic Bridge to the Madain area within the parks, and on the bridges in Baghdad Governorate - Rusafa side.
Colonel al-Tamimi emphasized the necessity for citizens to heed the warnings, avoid taking risks, and restrict swimming only to daylight hours. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the River Rescue Department to reduce drowning incidents and enhance public safety along the Tigris River.
