Baghdad: The Minister of Transport, Wahab Salman Mohammed Al-Hassani, has issued a decision to suspend the Director General of Iraqi Airways, Munaf Abdul-Munim Ajil, for a period of 60 days. This decision was made as part of a ministerial order on Sunday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Transport stated that the suspension was enacted "in the interest of the work and based on the provisions of Article (17/First) of the State and Public Sector Employees Discipline Law No. 14 of 1991, as amended." The decision reflects an administrative measure aimed at aligning with the existing legal framework for public sector employees.
The ministerial order further specified that Mustafa Talib Youssef has been appointed to manage the affairs of Iraqi Airways during the suspension period. This appointment is effective immediately, dating from the issuance of the order on July 12, 2026.
