Wasit: Approximately 5,600 members of the Wasit Awakening Councils staged a protest today in front of the Wasit Investigations Office, demanding that the Prime Minister and the Parliament open an investigation into their case.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, several protesters shared that they had been charged fees for Mastercard debit cards, which later turned out to be invalid. They accused a retired brigadier general and several other officers in Kut of orchestrating the scheme, emphasizing that they have not received their official appointment letters for about a year and a half. The protesters called on the relevant authorities to uncover the circumstances of the case and provide redress for those affected.
