Baghdad: The Integrity Commission has taken decisive action by arresting several employees at the Darman customs checkpoint, which is strategically located between Kirkuk and Erbil, for their alleged involvement in activities that breach their public job responsibilities.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Federal Integrity Commission, in collaboration with the National Security Service, executed the arrests following a thorough operation conducted by the Kirkuk Investigation Office. This operation, sanctioned by a judicial warrant, resulted in the apprehension of six employees at the customs crossing. The individuals are accused of extorting citizens by deliberately delaying the processing of customs transactions, despite having all required documentation in order, effectively coercing them into paying illicit sums of money.
The Commission further detailed that the arrested employees were subsequently presented before the competent investigating judge under the provisions of Resolution (160 of 1983). This move is part of the legal proceedings set to address the charges against them. The operation underscores the collaborative efforts with the National Security Service in Kirkuk to uphold integrity and accountability within public services.
