Prime Minister Al-Zaidi Commences Official Visit to Washington Amid Strengthened Bilateral Talks

Washington: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has arrived in Washington, D.C., leading a high-level government and economic delegation in his first foreign visit since the formation of his government. The visit, made at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, aims to bolster Iraqi-American relations and expand cooperation in key areas such as investment, energy, and infrastructure.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Prime Minister al-Zaidi's itinerary includes a series of discussions with US President Donald Trump, US administration officials, and representatives from the American business and economic communities. The Prime Minister is set to propose strategic initiatives to establish a long-term partnership between Iraq and the United States. These initiatives are focused on attracting American investments, engaging American companies in infrastructure projects, and developing Iraq's oil, gas, and energy sectors.

Finance Minister Faleh al-Sari accompanies Prime Minister al-Zaidi and is expected to engage in meetings with officials from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the US Treasury Department. These discussions will center on financial and administrative reforms, as well as enhancing cooperation in economic and financial domains.

Political figures in Iraq view this visit as a significant opportunity to secure investments and advance technology and energy sectors, contributing to the development and revitalization of the national economy while maintaining Iraq's sovereignty. Khalid Sido, a member of the Parliament's Security and Defense Committee, emphasized the visit's potential to strengthen Iraq-US relations and foster stability and economic growth.

Meanwhile, MP Murtadha al-Saadi highlighted the importance of the visit in facilitating a transparent dialogue that serves Iraq's best interests and fortifies bilateral relations based on mutual respect and adherence to existing agreements. As Prime Minister al-Zaidi continues his engagements in Washington, his commitment to transforming Iraqi-American relations into tangible economic and investment partnerships remains a focal point of this diplomatic endeavor.
