Iraqi Ports Authorities and South Korea’s Daewoo Discuss Enhanced Cooperation for Grand Faw Port Project

Basra: Iraqi ports authorities are in discussions with South Korean company Daewoo to explore ways to enhance collaboration on the Grand Faw Port project. The Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Captain Alaa Abdul Hassan Al-Akeeli, recently convened with Chul Jin Shim, CEO of the Civil Works Department at Daewoo, to focus on strengthening joint efforts in the execution of the Grand Faw Port projects. The meeting was also attended by Engineer Hanadi Abdul Razzaq, Head of the Grand Faw Port Project Authority, and several specialists from the company.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ports Company's media office released a statement indicating that both parties discussed the ongoing progress of the projects being executed within the Grand Faw Port. They deliberated on mechanisms to expedite the completion of these projects in alignment with the established plans, aiming to achieve high levels of quality and efficiency in the execution process.

The statement further highlighted Captain Al-Akeeli's reaffirmation of the General Company for Iraqi Ports' commitment to adhering to the established timelines for the Grand Faw Port projects. Al-Akeeli emphasized the strategic significance of the project in bolstering the national economy and enhancing Iraq's status as a regional hub for maritime transport and international trade.

The Daewoo delegation expressed its eagerness to maintain cooperation and coordination with the General Company for Iraqi Ports. This continued partnership is anticipated to contribute significantly to the completion of the projects, adhering to the best international engineering standards.
