President Joseph Aoun Reviews Telecom Sector Reforms with Minister Charles Hajj

Baabda: President Joseph Aoun Thursday received Minister of Telecommunications, Charles Hajj, at Baabda palace.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting focused on the latest developments in the telecommunications sector, particularly the situation of employees at Ogero and the Ministry of Telecommunications, as well as the plan to complete the implementation of Law No. 431 and establish "Liban Telecom." Minister Hajj affirmed that the Ministry of Telecommunications is moving forward with its sector reform plan in accordance with the law, while safeguarding the acquired rights of all employees at Ogero and the Ministry of Telecommunications, including daily wage workers. The Minister also stressed ongoing efforts to find legal solutions that ensure their job stability and preserve the continuity of public service.

President Aoun commended Minister Hajj's steadfast commitment to maintaining dialogue with employees' representatives and stressed the importance of balancing the protection of employees' rights with the continuation of the reform process, in a manner that ensures the sustainability of the telecommunications sector and enhances its role in serving citizens and the national economy. Aoun further reaffirmed that the state is committed to protecting the rights of all employees, emphasizing that any reform process will be based on respect for the law, the preservation of acquired rights, and the continued development and sustainability of public institutions.

On the other hand, President Aoun met with MP Michel Daher with whom he discussed the general situation in light of current developments, in addition to the economic conditions in the country.
