Beirut: Lebanon's Parliament resumed its legislative session before noon today, chaired by House Speaker Nabih Berri, in the presence of the Prime Minister, ministers, and MPs.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the draft law amending the first and second paragraphs of Article 42 of Legislative Decree No. 102/83 related to the Civil Defense Law was put to a vote and approved. This amendment extends the Military Academy study period from three to four years to ensure equivalency and allow graduates to obtain bachelor's degrees in three specializations.
The Parliament also approved an amendment to Paragraph 4 of Article 58 of Legislative Decree No. 102/83 related to the National Defense Law. This change permits military officers holding higher academic degrees to practice the teaching profession.
Further legislative action included approval of a draft law aimed at increasing Lebanon's share in the capital of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This move is seen as a step towards enhancing Lebanon's fiscal involvement with the institution.
Additionally, the Parliament approved a bill amending Law No. 4 dated May 9, 2025. This amendment authorizes the Lebanese University to hold competitive examinations to fill vacant administrative positions across its various faculties and units.
