Baghdad: Al-Zaydi has directed the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the details of the operation to thwart the smuggling of weapons and missiles across the Iraqi border into Syria. The move comes in response to recent developments concerning border security and the illegal transfer of arms.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Joint Operations Command announced on Thursday the establishment of an investigative committee following the successful intervention in an arms smuggling operation across the border. This committee is tasked with delving into the specifics of the operation to prevent future occurrences.
The Security Media Cell, in a press release, stated, "Upon the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, a high-level committee comprised of relevant authorities and specialists has been formed to investigate the details of the operation that thwarted the smuggling of weapons and missiles across the Iraqi border into Syrian territory."
Further, the statement emphasized the importance of coordination with the Syrian side to fully understand the intricacies of this operation. Such collaboration aims to hold those responsible accountable and ensure the preservation of security and stability along the shared border.
