Baghdad: The Iraqi Football Association took part in a significant gathering of national football federations at Trump Tower in New York City. This meeting, organized by the FIFA Executive Committee and led by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, also saw the participation of US President Donald Trump and several renowned international football stars and legends. Representing the Iraqi Football Association were its First Vice President, Sarmad Abdul-Ilah, and the President’s Advisor for Foreign Relations, Ghaith Muhanna.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this meeting occurred during the concluding days of the World Cup, just before the final match between Spain and Argentina, and the third-place contest featuring England and France. The event was a platform for discussing the impact of football globally and included key figures from the world of football.

During the meeting, FIFA President Gianni Infantino underscored the essential role that football plays in fostering unity and peace. He highlighted the success of the World Cup as a testament to international collaboration and called it a global event that transcends cultural barriers, uniting fans from all corners of the globe.

Infantino further remarked that the organizational and spectator success of the World Cup demonstrates football’s significant global influence. He expressed gratitude to the national federations, players, and legends who have played a part in elevating the status of the sport on the world stage.
