Baghdad: The Iraqi National News Agency reports that the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee's recommendations regarding the death of a fisherman from Basra Governorate have been officially endorsed by the Council of Representatives. The recommendations call for the dismissal of Vice Admiral Mazen Abdul Wahid Kiban, Commander of the Naval Force; Rear Admiral Wael Abdul Mohsen, Director of Naval Operations; and Rear Admiral Laith Abdul Sattar, Commander of the Umm Qasr Naval Base.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the recommendations emphasize the need for the Ministry of Defense to appoint a suitable replacement for the leadership of the Naval Force, guided by integrity, competence, and career progression criteria. Additionally, the Ministry is tasked with conducting a thorough investigation to identify those responsible for the incident. The investigation will involve forming committees to examine the cases and reporting the findings to the Council of Representatives.
