Baghdad: A parliamentary question has been raised by MP Talib al-Baydani, a member of the Sadiqun bloc and the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, directed at the Minister of Transport concerning the management and operation contract for Baghdad International Airport.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the inquiry seeks detailed information on the legal, administrative, and technical aspects that formed the basis for the airport management contract. MP al-Baydani’s question focuses on understanding the mechanisms involved in concluding the contract and the criteria used for selecting the contracting company. The inquiry also emphasizes the importance of legal and oversight guarantees to safeguard public funds and ensure the protection of airport revenues and state-owned assets.

Additionally, the parliamentary question requests that any observations noted by oversight bodies regarding the contract be shared. Furthermore, it calls for the provision of all relevant documents, studies, and approvals to Parliament. This step aims to enhance transparency and ensure the preservation of public funds and the national interest, highlighting the need for accountability and thorough oversight in governmental contracts.
