Mosul: The University of Mosul has embarked on a significant solar energy project that positions Nineveh Governorate as a leader in the transition to clean energy. Abdullah Al-Sarraf, Director of Media and Government Communications at the university, announced that the 30-megawatt solar power plant represents a crucial step towards sustainable energy solutions. This project is set to meet the university's electricity needs while also contributing energy to the national grid, enhancing electrical stability in Mosul and the wider governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sarraf recently met with Marc-Andr© Hensel, Director of the German Development Bank in Iraq, to discuss the university's progress in implementing renewable energy projects. Al-Sarraf emphasized the university's commitment to sustainable development, highlighting the solar power plant as a model for other academic and governmental institutions.

Hensel commended the University of Mosul for its advancements in preparing the project site and lauded its vision for adopting renewable energy initiatives, including the solar power plant and electric vehicle charging station. He noted that these projects demonstrate a genuine commitment to environmental sustainability and support Nineveh's development and reconstruction efforts.
