Basra Police Apprehend Suspects After Shootout in Internal Security Area

Basra: Basra police apprehended two suspects in the Internal Security District. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Police Command announced in a press release that a shooting incident had been reported by the central control room in the Internal Security/Police Station area. In response, Basra Police Chief Major General Latif Abdul-Ridha Al-Saad quickly directed the formation of a team, led by the director of the Al-Hussein Police Station, to investigate the scene.

The statement from the police indicated that after gathering information, conducting investigations, and following up on the incident, the police detachments successfully identified the suspects involved. A subsequent exchange of gunfire took place with a police patrol, during which the patrol vehicle sustained three bullet impacts to its front. Despite this, the police force managed to apprehend the suspects.

The police statement further revealed that a pistol and a rifle were confiscated from the suspects, along with a motorcycle that lacked license plates. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals.
