Baghdad: The Department of Studies and Research at the Ministry of Culture has initiated a specialized training course on World Heritage Management, conducted by the Archaeological Training and Development Department. This course, titled "World Heritage Management - Case Studies," was delivered through an online platform under the guidance of Qasim Taher Al-Sudani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities for Arts Affairs, and Director General of the Studies and Research Directorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abdul Razzaq Aboudi, a member of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, led the lecture, focusing on successful international experiences in managing World Heritage sites. He presented models from countries like Italy and China, alongside various Arab experiences, aiming to adopt best practices for improving the management of Iraqi sites listed as World Heritage. This effort seeks to preserve these sites for future generations.

Dr. Ali Ghanem Hussein, Assistant Director General of the Studies Department, stated that the course's objective was to enhance national capacities in managing World Heritage sites and to build specialized expertise for tackling challenges faced by these sites in Iraq. This initiative supports the development of management and preservation methods in line with international standards. He highlighted that the course is part of a broader training program designed to advance the scientific and professional skills of those working in the antiquities and heritage sector, aligning with the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage's directives to improve management systems and safeguard Iraqi cultural heritage.
