Basra: The cultural, literary, and academic circles in Basra mourn the passing of short story writer Dr. Abdul Jabbar Aboud Al-Halfi, who died today after a battle with illness. Dr. Abdul Jabbar Aboud Al-Halfi, a short story writer and academic researcher, was a prominent cultural and literary figure from Basra. He combined creative writing, literary criticism, and cultural activism with his academic work in economics and the authorship of specialized and environmental books.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dr. Al-Halfi held prominent cultural positions, including the presidency of the General Union of Writers and Authors in Basra, and taught at the University of Basra, College of Administration and Economics. He made numerous critical and short story contributions, as well as economic and environmental research.
