Tehran: The acting Iranian Defense Minister, Major General Seyyed Majid Ibn Reza, has put forth a proposal for the creation of a joint security mechanism aimed at excluding foreign forces from outside the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a phone conversation with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Gler, Ibn Reza discussed recent regional developments, the enforcement of a ceasefire, and strategies to enhance defense and security cooperation between Iran and Turkey. The conversation was reported by the Iranian Defense Ministry via the Iranian news agency IRNA.

The Iranian general emphasized Iran's proposal for an Islamic security alliance that would involve countries such as Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. He stated that the recent conflict highlighted the necessity for regional countries to take charge of their own security instead of relying on external powers. Furthermore, he cautioned against Israeli plans to establish "security zones" in Syria and Lebanon, which he connected to recent American statements about potentially opening a front against Hezbollah.
