Baghdad: The President of the Republic, Nizar Amidi, has declared that justice remains incomplete until the Yazidis regain their full rights. In a poignant statement marking the twelfth anniversary of the Yazidi genocide, Amidi highlighted the atrocities committed by ISIS and emphasized the resilience of the Yazidi people.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Amidi described the genocide as one of the most heinous crimes in Iraq's modern history, where ISIS aimed not only to kill innocents but to obliterate the Yazidi identity through murder, enslavement, displacement, and destruction. He stated that the Yazidi community's determination to survive and maintain their cultural identity is a testament to their strength.

Amidi stressed that addressing the plight of the Yazidis has been a priority since he assumed office. He believes that achieving justice for the Yazidis is not solely a concern for a specific group but a national and moral duty that impacts the dignity of all Iraqis. He called for decisive actions to end the ongoing suffering that has persisted for over a decade.

The president outlined several critical measures needed to restore justice, including the return of displaced persons to their homes, uncovering the fate of the kidnapped and missing, reconstructing Sinjar and other affected areas, and compensating victims. Amidi asserted that these objectives must be pursued to ensure a safe and dignified life for the Yazidi people, declaring that the prolonged effects of this tragedy are unacceptable.
