According to National Iraqi News Agency, the security source indicated that personnel from the security forces at the Al-Ghari police station, near the old city of Najaf, were able to arrest a Syrian national and another of Kurdish ethnicity after they raped and murdered an 8-year-old boy from Najaf and threw him into a water reservoir used in the quarries area, claiming he had drowned.

The source confirmed that a thorough investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances of this horrific crime.
