Dhi Qar Criminal Court Sentences Two Men to 10 Years for Impersonation

Dhi qar: The Dhi Qar Criminal Court sentenced two men to ten years in prison for impersonating an advisor to the President of the Supreme Judicial Council. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council explained in a statement that the two men exploited this false identity to extort money from a citizen, who was the complainant, by falsely promising to release his brother. The brother was convicted under Article 28/First of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law.

The statement from the Supreme Judicial Council further detailed that the sentence was issued against the two men in accordance with Resolution 160/First/1 of 1983, as amended. The ruling also referenced Articles 47, 48, and 49 of the same resolution.
