Baghdad: The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced on Tuesday the strategic deployment of more than 54,000 personnel, organized into 70 regiments, to ensure the security of the Arbaeen pilgrimage across multiple provinces. This massive operation includes the establishment of three command centers in the Middle Euphrates provinces.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Yasser Hussein al-Issawi, Deputy Chief of Staff of the PMF for Operations, detailed at a press conference that the PMF has strategically deployed over 70 regiments to secure the borders in the provinces hosting the Arbaeen pilgrimage. Al-Issawi highlighted the opening of three command centers in the Middle Euphrates region and the implementation of a comprehensive seven-pronged security plan.

Al-Issawi emphasized that the Popular Mobilization Forces have been stationed along all roads and routes leading to the holy city of Karbala. He affirmed that all departments and directorates are actively participating in providing exceptional services to pilgrims commemorating the Arba'een of Imam Hussein. He also noted the high level of coordination between the PMF, security forces, and the Million-Person Pilgrimage Committee to ensure the success of the security and service plan.

In addition, Major General Ali al-Hamdani, commander of the PMF's Middle Euphrates Operations, elaborated during the press conference that the PMF has deployed over 500 medical teams to provide services to Arba'een pilgrims. The Middle Euphrates Operations Command has also deployed 24,450 fighters to implement the organizational plan.

Al-Hamdani further stated that the Middle Euphrates Operations Command has established 577 security checkpoints as part of its field deployment to secure the routes of the Arba'een pilgrimage.
