Baghdad: Minister of Health Abdul Hussein al-Moussawi announced the successful implementation of the health plan during the Arba'een pilgrimage to Imam Hussein's shrine. The initiative provided medical services to over 4.2 million patients, as the ministry effectively mobilized its resources to support the millions of pilgrims.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Health Minister al-Moussawi confirmed that the ministry coordinated with supporting agencies to deploy extensive health, medical, and ambulance services. The Ministry's spokesperson, Saif Al-Badr, highlighted the deployment of 1,080 medical detachments and over 3,080 ambulances, surpassing the standard plan which called for an ambulance every five kilometers. This comprehensive coverage spanned approximately 3,500 kilometers of pilgrimage routes. Additionally, 460 medical detachments and 23,000 volunteers contributed to the healthcare efforts.

Al-Badr also revealed the formation of over 60 rapid response teams to administer first aid and 55 health inspection teams, which destroyed more than 50 tons of unfit food to safeguard public health. Preparations included eight government hospitals in Karbala, alongside the Al-Zahraa and Sayyida Khadija hospitals, and various mobile clinics along the pilgrimage paths.

The Ministry of Health's hospitals in Karbala catered to over 3.5 million patients, while medical detachments treated more than 4.2 million, underscoring the magnitude of the healthcare operations during the pilgrimage. Al-Badr also noted the unprecedented involvement of Peshmerga forces, who contributed a mobile medical clinic as part of a collaborative effort that engaged over 150,000 personnel. The healthcare services commenced on the 18th of Muharram, starting from Ras al-Bisha and extending to the holy city of Karbala.
