Erbil: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi met with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani on Saturday to discuss continued coordination and cooperation between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region in border control and security. Al-Aboudi emphasized Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi’s commitment to maintaining security and stability in all Iraqi cities.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the National Security Advisor stated that “National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Aboudi met in Erbil with the KDP President Masoud Barzani, and reviewed with Barzani the overall situation at the level of the Iraqi interior, in addition to discussing the latest developments at the regional and international levels.”

The meeting included discussions on the continuation of coordination and cooperation between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region in areas such as border control, maintaining security and stability, enhancing security cooperation, and exchanging information regarding preventing smuggling and combating terrorism.

Al-Aboudi conveyed “the greetings of Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi to the leadership in the region,” and stressed “the federal government’s keenness to exert maximum efforts to maintain the security and stability of the region and all Iraqi cities.”
