Baghdad: Deputy Speaker of Parliament Farhad Amin al-Atroushi commemorated the Kocho massacre on Saturday, emphasizing the need for the Sinjar agreement’s implementation and the reconstruction of the village.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament issued a statement acknowledging the atrocity committed by the ISIS terrorist organization against the Yazidi village of Kojo in Sinjar district on August 15, 2014. During this event, hundreds of men and boys were killed, while women and children were taken captive.
The statement highlighted Al-Atroushi’s call for the execution of the Sinjar Agreement between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. It also underscored the importance of reconstructing the region and facilitating the return of displaced persons to their homes.
Furthermore, the statement emphasized “the need to do justice to the survivors, complete the file on revealing the fate of the abductees, and hold the perpetrators accountable according to the law, to ensure that these tragedies and crimes against humanity are not repeated.”
