Granada: A 5-magnitude earthquake struck the Granada region of Andalusia in southern Spain on Saturday, causing material damage but no reported injuries. Images broadcast by Spanish media showed debris scattered in the streets and damage to a number of vehicles and buildings.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, local sources reported that emergency teams in Andalusia intervened to rescue people from buildings damaged by the earthquake. Residents felt the tremor in large areas of Andalusia, including Malaga, Almeria, Cordoba, and parts of Ja©n. Emergency services received more than 200 reports of material damage and panic among residents.

Antonio Sanz Cabello, Vice President of the Andalusian Regional Government, said in a post on X that authorities had declared a state of emergency, confirming that damage assessments and monitoring of the situation on the ground were ongoing. This earthquake occurred in a region known for its seismic activity, as the Granada Basin is one of the most earthquake-prone areas.
