London: The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr. Saleh Hussein Ali Al-Tamimi, recently held a meeting with Dr. Ali Hassan Khudair, Director of the Department of Ancient Writings at the Iraqi Museum. Dr. Khudair is participating in the 20th session of the International Training Program (ITP) at the British Museum, which brings together 22 specialists from various parts of the globe.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on the significance of the program in enhancing Iraqi museum expertise and skills. It emphasized the benefits of acquiring modern international experiences in museum collection management, documentation, preservation and maintenance, and display methods. The discussions highlighted the importance of Iraqi experts engaging in international training programs to boost the professional capabilities of museum staff.

The meeting underscored how participating in such programs allows for the transfer of expertise and knowledge to Iraqi museum institutions, aiding in the development of museum work in line with international standards. This participation not only strengthens Iraq’s presence in cultural and specialized international forums but also underscores its rich cultural heritage. It supports the efforts of the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage and the Department of Public Museums in preserving and protecting Iraqi museum collections and artifacts.
