Anbar: The governor of Anbar, Engineer Omar Mishaan Dabbous, engaged in discussions with Brigadier General Laith Dhiyab Hanfish, Director of the Al-Qaim border crossing, and Brigadier General Furat Saleh Al-Sharaa, Director of the Arar border crossing. The meeting centered on the current operations at these crossings and their potential development, highlighting their strategic, economic, and service-related significance to the province.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the governor emphasized that the border crossings serve as essential economic and service gateways for Anbar. Their purpose extends beyond simple transit, encompassing the stimulation of trade, transportation, and investment, which in turn strengthens the province’s resources.
The talks also covered the development needs of the Arar crossing, crucial for trade and religious pilgrimages such as Hajj and Umrah to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the Al-Qaim crossing, which acts as a significant portal to the Syrian Arab Republic and its commercial depth.
Governor Dabbous instructed coordination among the border crossing administrations and supporting departments, emphasizing the need for essential data and information to be provided to relevant consulting bodies. This step is in preparation for the development of studies, plans, and technical designs required to enhance the crossings. The goal is to ensure increased operational efficiency, improved services, and the ability to accommodate future expansion.
