Integrity Commission Seizes Nearly 9 Billion Dinars and Seven Gold Bars at Home of Deputy Electricity Minister for Transport

Baghdad: The Federal Commission of Integrity (FCoI) announced on Sunday that it had seized nearly nine billion Iraqi dinars, seven gold bars, and gold jewelry at the home of the deputy electricity minister for transport and distribution.

According to Iraqi News Agency, FCoI stated that a team from the Baghdad Investigation Directorate, after intensive monitoring, inquiries, and investigations, successfully discovered significant sums of money and quantities of gold in several homes belonging to Khalid Ghazai Atiya, the Deputy Minister of Electricity for Transport and Distribution. The commission had previously executed an arrest warrant against Atiya.

The statement detailed that the funds seized included 1,175,000,000 Iraqi dinars and 5,839,000 U.S. dollars, alongside seven gold bars and additional gold jewelry. An official seizure report was compiled for the operation, and, together with the seized items, it was presented to the competent investigating judge to facilitate the necessary legal proceedings.
