Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, engaged in discussions with the Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Adel al-Yassiri, focusing on the development of the investment environment and addressing stalled projects. Al-Dulaimi extended his congratulations to al-Yassiri on his appointment, expressing hopes that his leadership would advance the investment climate and bolster its contribution to the national economy.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from al-Dulaimi’s office highlighted that the meeting concentrated on the current state of the investment environment in Iraq. Discussions emphasized the need to develop and enhance capabilities to attract quality investments and achieve sustainable development. A significant portion of the dialogue centered around the importance of continuously reviewing and evaluating investment contracts and projects, particularly those experiencing delays, in order to address underlying issues, protect public funds, and effectively manage available opportunities.
Faihan reiterated the House of Representatives’ support for the Investment Authority’s initiatives, affirming their backing of legislation aimed at enhancing the Authority’s role and enabling efficient performance of its duties. He underscored the necessity of creating a stable and attractive investment environment to draw in reputable companies, bolster investor confidence, and facilitate capital investment in strategic projects. These efforts aim to diversify the national economy, support productive sectors, and provide substantial job opportunities for the Iraqi youth.
