Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed that Iraq seeks economic openness. The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a press release: “Al-Zaidi met today, Sunday, at his office with the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Nicol² Fontana. During their meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop partnerships in various fields.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized that Iraq seeks economic openness with Italy and other European Union countries, and aims to benefit from the advanced technological capabilities of Italian companies in various sectors, particularly energy, agriculture, and industry. He reiterated his invitation for Italy to contribute to Iraq’s comprehensive development.
For his part, Fontana affirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Iraq in all areas of joint cooperation, for the benefit of both friendly nations.
