Iraq Focuses on Strengthening Air Defense with Foreign Contracts


Baghdad: Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, chaired a pivotal meeting of the Air Defense Command on Sunday, focusing on the enhancement of Iraq’s air defense capabilities. The meeting was attended by key military officials, including the Director of the Commander-in-Chief’s Office and the Chief of Staff of the Army.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office released a statement outlining the meeting’s agenda, which centered on a strategic plan to bolster Iraq’s air defense readiness. This plan aims to ensure the protection of Iraqi airspace and uphold the nation’s sovereignty.



The discussions also covered contracts with foreign companies tasked with supplying advanced specialized systems to the Air Defense Command. The meeting underscored the urgency of accelerating the implementation and delivery of these contracts, which are crucial for completing the air defense system and enhancing its capacity to monitor and control Iraqi airspace effectively.
