Ronaldo Hints at Retirement: ‘This Might Be My Last Year in Football’

Riyadh: Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr, hinted at the possibility of retiring from football at the end of the current season, revealing that this year “might be my last on the pitch,” indicating his desire to spend more time with his family.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ronaldo discussed his potential retirement in an interview with Vogue magazine, expressing his wish to leave an “exceptional legacy” in the sport. He confirmed his eagerness to spend more quality time with his family once he hangs up his boots, noting that he has already envisioned his post-retirement future.

Ronaldo elaborated, “I have completely planned my future. I have so many things that will keep me busy that it’s difficult to mention just one. Because football can leave a huge void, you have to fill your time in different ways, not just with one thing.” The forward stressed the importance of having varied interests to transition smoothly into life after football.

The Al-Nassr star further shared his aspirations to enjoy life beyond the pitch, saying, “I also want to enjoy myself more, travel more, watch and play padel, a sport I love very much, and continue to enjoy what I have achieved, what we have achieved. In the end, it has been 25 years filled with many sacrifices.” Ronaldo’s comments highlight his readiness to embrace a new chapter, focusing on personal happiness and diverse experiences.
