Iranian Foreign Ministry Refutes 60-Day Deadline in US Memorandum

Tehran: The Iranian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States does not include a 60-day deadline. It also accused Washington of violating the terms of the agreement just weeks after it was signed.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei addressed the situation in a press release, stating, “Iran’s steadfastness has thwarted the calculations of its enemies.” He highlighted the ongoing contacts with Qatar, which is playing a crucial role in the current de-escalation efforts between the two nations.

Baghaei further noted that Iran has been closely monitoring the situation of the pilots in Qatar since the early days of the memorandum’s implementation. He emphasized that this remains a significant and serious demand for Tehran. Additionally, he commented on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, attributing the insecurity in the region to what he described as the illegal actions of the United States.
