Baghdad: Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Sadrist Movement, has voiced criticism against the recent Iranian drone strikes on sites within Iraq. Al-Sadr expressed his dismay over the attacks, emphasizing the sorrow it brings when such actions are carried out by what he refers to as “brothers” from Iran, highlighting the internal conflict and the sensitive nature of the situation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sadr articulated that while Iraq has historically been targeted by enemy drones, it is particularly disheartening when the strikes originate from neighboring Iran. He underscored the gravity of the situation by pointing out the potential targeting of Iraqi officials across regions such as Baghdad and Kurdistan, as well as other parts of Iraq.
Al-Sadr further urged the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to desist from striking Iraqi territory, noting that such actions could lead to increased tensions and potentially allow Iraq’s enemies to revel in the discord. He concluded with a plea for divine protection over the region, expressing hope for safeguarding Iraq from any threats, regardless of their origin.
