Baghdad: The Ministry of Planning held a workshop on Monday to discuss proposed projects funded by the international community and planned for implementation by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The workshop was chaired by the Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, Dr. Saher Abdul Kadhim Mahdi, and attended by the Deputy Head of Mission, IOM representatives, and representatives of relevant government agencies.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the workshop included discussions on seven project proposals, focusing on issues related to combating human trafficking, strengthening community resilience, and supporting sustainable livelihoods in the face of climate change. The workshop also addressed rehabilitation and reintegration programs and sustainable solutions for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The Director General of the Department of International Cooperation emphasized the importance of achieving a high level of clarity regarding all proposals. This clarity, he stated, would contribute to expediting international cooperation procedures, avoiding challenges that might face implementing agencies and beneficiary government entities, and ensuring the optimal utilization of international support.
He noted that the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Planning applies governance procedures for international projects and activities submitted to the government, according to a clear model that includes all the necessary details and requirements. This ensures integration among the relevant entities, effective project implementation, and the achievement of their objectives.
Representatives from the beneficiary government agencies, including the Ministries of Interior, Health, Agriculture, Labor and Social Affairs, Migration and Displacement, Justice, Electricity, and Construction, Housing, and Municipalities, attended the meeting, as did representatives from the International Organization for Migration.
