Iraqi Meteorological Organization Predicts Temperature Drop and Dust Storms


Baghdad: The Iraqi Meteorological Organization has announced a forthcoming drop in temperatures starting tomorrow, with clear weather conditions expected across the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the organization’s statement predicts a slight decrease in temperatures in the central and northern regions, while the southern region will experience temperatures similar to the previous day. The maximum temperatures for Tuesday are expected to be 37°C in Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah, 39°C in Erbil, and 40°C in Nineveh. Kirkuk and Anbar are forecasted to reach 41°C, Salah al-Din 42°C, and Baghdad, Diyala, and Karbala 44°C. The highest temperatures will be seen in Wasit and Babylon at 45°C, Najaf and Diwaniyah at 46°C, Maysan, Dhi Qar, and Muthanna at 47°C, and Basra at 48°C.

The statement further details that Wednesday will bring clear weather along with moderate northwesterly winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h, which may cause dust storms in some central and southern areas. Temperatures will rem
ain similar in the northern region but decrease slightly in the central and southern regions. Horizontal visibility is expected to be very good, ranging from 8-10 km, though it may reduce to 3-5 km in dusty conditions.

On Thursday, the weather will continue to be clear throughout the country, with moderate northwesterly winds and potential dust storms in the southern region. Temperatures are projected to rise in the central and northern regions while slightly decreasing in the southern region compared to the day before. Visibility conditions are predicted to mirror those of Wednesday.

The forecast for Friday indicates a slight rise in temperatures across the country, with continued clear weather expected.
