Russia Targets Kyiv with Ballistic Missiles and Shoots Down 211 Ukrainian Drones


Kyiv: Russian ballistic missiles targeted the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, while Moscow announced the destruction of hundreds of Ukrainian drones overnight and during the day, in the airspace of several regions, in a new escalation of tensions between the two countries.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ukrainian army stated that a number of ballistic missiles targeted Kyiv, while Western media reported hearing explosions following the attack.



In response, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 211 Ukrainian drones during the day in the airspace of several Russian regions and over the Black Sea.



The ministry added that the drones were destroyed between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM Moscow time, over the regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, Oryol, Tula, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Smolensk, Ryazan, Vladimir, and Moscow, in addition to Crimea and the Black Sea.
