Baquba Suspect Apprehended for Human Trafficking and Witchcraft


Baquba: A suspect was arrested in Baquba for human trafficking and practicing witchcraft. The Diyala Governorate Police Command announced the arrest of a man accused of human trafficking and practicing witchcraft and sorcery in Baquba, the governorate’s capital.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command stated in a press release that units from the Fifth Diyala Emergency Regiment, in conjunction with the Diyala Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Directorate and the Organized Crime’s Human Trafficking Department, arrested a suspect wanted under Article (7) of the Human Trafficking Law.



The statement added that the suspect was practicing witchcraft, sorcery, and defrauding citizens in exchange for money. He was arrested and taken into custody by the joint force as he was wanted by the judiciary. The statement indicated that “the necessary legal procedures have been taken against him, in preparation for referring him to the competent authorities to receive his just punishment according to the law.”
